a couple of updates...

It really seems like this semester has flown by! I can't believe we're already in the 3rd six weeks...(I think in terms of six weeks/semesters, not like the rest of the real world that thinks in months). It's been a great year so far and I just love most things at school right now. I know not everything can be perfect, but I'm just thankful my kids are so wonderful this year. Last year's kids were great too, but just had so much personality that they could be overwhelming. That group was just all around pretty rough on our campus too. This year's kids are fantastic and they make each day great. I'm not worried at all about leaving them with the long-term sub and I'm not worried at all about TAKS...which is what we seem to focus on anyway in the great state of Texas.

Jennie's wedding was this weekend and it was gorgeous! I was honored to be a reader during the ceremony. In front of about 450 people, yes I said 450, it was a rather large wedding, I did get quite nervous. Having to go up there and feel like a whale didn't help the nerves either. But, the ceremony was beautiful and the reception was just fabulous. Great food, music, dancing, decorations and fabulous open bar....no, I didn't partake. Here are a couple pics:

On another note, we got maternity pictures done today. I kept going back and forth on whether or not to get them, but finally just decided to do it. Sam didn't really want to get them, but then again, he never wants to take pictures. It was a blast taking them. Cara really made it so much fun and we took a lot of cute/goofy ones. I didn't want a bunch of pics with my bare tummy showing or serious ones, and she did exactly what we wanted. We should have them in about a week!

2:42 a.m.

10 years ago at 2:42 a.m. 12 Aggies lost their lives in the Bonfire Tragedy.

I wasn't enrolled at A&M at that time, I wasn't truly an Aggie yet, but I remember the moment I heard the news. It was my senior year. I hadn't decided on a college yet; mom and I were still visiting schools. I was to go visit A&M the week after Thanksgiving. I remember hearing the news while I was getting ready for the day. I had a good friend at A&M and I immediately called him to make sure he was ok.

I went to visit the campus with mom two weeks following. I remember seeing the stack. Yellow tape surrounded the area. People on campus were somber, but the 'howdy' welcome still came from their mouths. I remember leaving knowing that was where I wanted to spend the next four years.

I don't think the impact of Bonfire truly hit me until I was a freshman. I didn't realize how important, how deep the tradition was in the Aggie culture. I still don't know if I can fully realize the impact because I never participated in a true Bonfire. However, they were Aggies and Aggies are we.

So on this day I'm remembering the 12 Fallen Aggies and their families.....

Some may boast of prowess bold
Of the school they think so grand
But there's a spirit can ne'er be told
It's the Spirit of Aggieland.

It's about time...

for a quiz. I haven't done one in awhile.

How far along? 30 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Holding strong at 32 freaking pounds
Maternity clothes? yep.
Sleep: I'm so exhausted. I sleep so much at night, but I don't really get good sleep.
Best moment this week: shopping for Carter with Sam
Movement: TONS. He loves rolling, kicking around
Food cravings: eh, nothing really. Oh wait, I did want Fruity Pebbles last night, but I didn't crave them, just thought, hey, those sound good. The craving for oranges is back though.
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: getting up off the floor quickly
What I am looking forward to: my appointment tomorrow and our maternity pictures next week!
Weekly Wisdom: You don't have to buy everything brand new...
Milestones: 10 weeks to go. Holy shit.

I got nothing for a title...

The past two weekends have been pretty wonderful. Last Saturday was my shower and it was great (pics coming soon). The hostesses made everything so nice from the food, drinks, games...wonderful. I was so happy so many ladies could make it. Carter got a ton of precious little outfits, books, blankets and decor for the room. His nursery is coming along and I'm going to post pics when everything is hung up.

Today was a pretty good day, too. It was nice to have Sam at home (even though he's already bored). I ran some errands this morning, cleaned a little, took Brock for a walk, watched football with Sam and napped on the couch. Tonight we went to eat at WingStop then did a little shopping. Overall, it was laid back and what I needed.

On another note, Sam just said, "you get annoyed with a lot lately. Just sayin".

just a little note..

Dear Carter,
Mommy really, really can't wait to meet you. I can't wait to kiss your precious little face, little toes and little tummy. I dream about rocking, holding and cuddling you. That being said, we need to have a lil' come to Jesus meeting...

First, the little move you're doing where you stretch and push your cute rear out....it needs to stop. I know you're getting cramped in there love, but Mommy can't breathe, walk or think when you do that. We've got 10 weeks left, so please try to get comfy. Darling if you'd also limit the bouncing on my bladder I sure would appreciate it. I'm already running to the bathroom every hour. It's not a trampoline.

On a final note, punkin, playtime ends at 10 p.m. and resumes at 6:45 a.m. It's not at 3 a.m. when Mommy is trying desperately to get some beauty sleep.

Please remember these little things 'cause they may come back to get you when you're a teenager. Just sayin'....

Love you forever,
Mommy

Updates...

Halloween was pretty entertaining this year. It was great to have a prop (my tummy) to work with. Here are a couple pictures...more coming from Allison & Zach's party.
School costume-basketball coach (27 wks):

Party that night:
White trash couple, yes Sam does have a black eye:
This week was much better, but now I have a terrible cold...or something. Our secretary at school has pneumonia and I'm around her a lot. I called Dr. Harris' nurse and she got a zpac for me just in case. I decided to not go to school today. I seriously need the rest. Tomorrow's my shower and I can't wait!
